Therefore, you may choose the location where you would feel the most comfortable.
Although certain physicians perform liposuction with light sedation or even awake, Dr. Vinyard feels that your comfort and your result will be much better when the procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
The amount of time required for liposuction varies depending upon the number of areas treated, as well as, the amount of fat needed to be removed in each area. Dr. Vinyard will discuss the expected length of time needed for your liposuction procedure after he has evaluated your areas of concern.
Yes. It is commonly performed with an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) or breast procedure. In the case where you have a combination of liposuction with an abdominoplasty, patients frequently request liposuction of the flanks (love handles) or outer thighs. Liposuction can be performed with breast procedures such as breast augmentation, breast lift (mastopexy), or breast reduction.
Yes. You will be able to return to the comfort of your home with a responsible adult the same day of your liposuction procedure.
You will be able to return to the comfort of your home with a responsible adult the same day, unless you combine your liposuction procedure with an abdominoplasty. In that case, Dr. Vinyard strongly recommends that you stay in a local hotel with our Plastic Surgery Sitter overnight so that she can monitor your progress that first night.
You may return to sedentary work in 3-7 days after your procedure. You will be wearing a compression garment 24 hours a day for 3 weeks to reduce the swelling in the areas treated with liposuction. This garment can easily be concealed by your clothing. You will experience persistent soreness that subsides greatly in the first week to 10 days. You will need to avoid repetitive motions such as heavy cleaning (mopping, sweeping, wiping) for 3 weeks. You may return to the majority of your normal activities within 6 weeks of surgery.
Bruising can persist for up to 3 weeks after liposuction. You can expect the area to be multi-colored in appearance and occurs in the majority of patients. This bruising is usually covered by your garment and clothing. Should you have micro-liposuction of the face in the jowl or submental region, this bruising is usually more minimal and can be covered by concealer.
Swelling persists for approximately 6 weeks and is almost all gone at 3 months. The majority of your swelling will subside around 3-4 weeks after your liposuction, but can worsen when you do too much too soon. Wearing your surgical garment can help with minimizing the swelling.
You will be very close to your final result from liposuction at 3 months. Your shape will continue to improve throughout the 1st year if you maintain or lose weight. In addition, the tissues will continue to soften over the first 3-6 months.
Dr. Vinyard likes to keep a close watch over his liposuction patients. You will see Dr. Vinyard in the clinic for the first time one day after your liposuction procedure, then at 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year.

Therefore, once you come in for a consultation with Dr. Vinyard and your treatment plan has been determined you will be provided a detailed quote for review.
