Gynecomastia is the abnormal development of mammary glands in males causing large breasts. This can result from hormonal changes, heredity, the use of certain drugs, or a disease process. Dr. Vinyard performs a detailed medical history and physical examination to help determine the cause. Gynecomastia surgery may be needed to correct these deformities by removing excess fat and breast tissue through a variety of techniques depending upon your needs. Gynecomastia treatment is designed to contour the male breast tissue that remains despite a person’s best efforts to lose the excess tissue through diet and exercise. The overall goal of surgery to correct gynecomastia is to achieve a more masculine appearance by decreasing the size and projection of male breasts. Dr. Vinyard may employ the use of liposuction only or lipsuction combined with direct incision and removal of unwanted breast tissue. This allows patients to regain their self confidence in situations they previously avoided such as during water activities or during the hot summer months in certain clothing.Photo Gallery
