Dr. Vinyard values the time spent in consultation with each patient and the communication that occurs during your visit here. You can expect that he will spend quite a bit of time with you. Initially, you will be greeted with a smile by our receptionist who will offer you something to drink and provide you with the necessary paperwork to complete. You can now enter your own demographic information and medical health history at the convenience of your own home through our state-of-the-art SAFE Internet-based Patient Portal on our website. Then, you will be escorted to your consultation room. Once there, you will be oriented about your visit with us and escorted to the professional photography suite. There, you will have 2-Demensional and 3-Demensional photos taken. Next, our nurse will review your detailed health history. Once she has conveyed this information to Dr. Vinyard, he will then begin the consultation which will consist of a facial and nasal analysis and a conversation about your facial structure, a physical exam, and commence with a detailed discussion of your options. During your conversation with Dr. Vinyard, you will be able to see your 3-D image and not only communicate with him about your desires, but also visualize your projected surgical outcome. Dr. Vinyard will explain his recommended treatment plan with you and answer all of your questions regarding rhinoplasty. Lastly, you will meet with the patient care coordinator who will provide you with your quote for your rhinoplasty and will assist you in obtaining financing if desired.
Please allow 1-1 ½ hours for your rhinoplasty consultation. This is a vital part of your journey with us and can be considered time that you are dedicating to yourself.
Dr. Vinyard has a state of the art surgical suite in his Cosmetic Surgery Center in Guntersville, Alabama. He also has hospital privileges at both Marshall Medical Center North and Marshall Medical Center South hospitals. You may choose the facility that is most comfortable and convenient for you.
Dr. Vinyard prefers general anesthesia during a rhinoplasty.
There are many approaches to nose reshaping surgery (rhinoplasty). Just as the appearance of everyone's nose is different, there are just as many ways to correct the area(s) of concern. Depending upon the type of procedure that Dr. Vinyard recommends for you, your rhinoplasty procedure can last from 1 ½ to 3 ½ hours. He will be able to advise you on the length of surgery at the end of your consultation once he has decided what will be necessary to achieve the look that you desire.
Generally, rhinoplasty can be combined with other procedures. It is commonly combined with other surgeries of the face such as a chin implant or micro-liposuction of the chin or jowls to help create better facial balance.
Yes. You will return to the comfort of your home the same day after your rhinoplasty.
You will stay in the comfort of your own home with a responsible adult.
Recovery from a rhinoplasty varies from person to person. You will experience some discomfort, swelling and bruising during the first couple weeks after surgery. You will be required to avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting for about 2-3 weeks. You may return to normal activities within 4-6 weeks.
Bruising after a rhinoplasty usually lasts 10-14 days but can persist for up to 3 weeks. You may experience some bruising underneath the eyes as well. One week after your rhinoplasty, most of the bruising can be covered with a camouflaging concealer. We can recommend some brands of concealer during your post- operative visits that are effective with the type of coverage needed.
Swelling or edema after a rhinoplasty tends to persist in the nose for quite some time, and resolution of swelling in the tip occurs last. The majority of the swelling with diminish by 1 month after your procedure. This swelling is noticed much more by the patient than others (such as friends or family) because you are closely observing your nose on a daily basis in the mirror. You may notice subtle changes in the appearance of the nose during the first year after your rhinoplasty.
The final result can be seen at 1 year after rhinoplasty surgery with it being very close to the final result at 3 months. The nose continues to change throughout your lifespan regardless of whether it has been surgically altered or not.
Dr. Vinyard likes to keep a close watch over his patients. You will see Dr. Vinyard in the clinic for the first time one day after your rhinoplasty, then at 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year.
Just as every nose is different, so are the different types of surgeries that can be employed to help correct patient concerns. It will depend upon the extent of correction that you require and the time associated with that. You will be given a written quote at the end of your consultation that will detail the associated costs.
Dr. Vinyard's professional fee, anesthesia fees, facility fees, and a nasal splint are included. The consultation fee, pre-op visit and all follow up visits are included in Dr. Vinyard's professional fee.
Since a rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure, the total cost of the procedure is due 2 weeks in advance. The first 50% of the total cost is due 1 month in advance of your surgery.
A rhinoplasty is considered a cosmetic procedure. Occasionally, you may have a functional problem involving your nose in which you have an irregularly shaped septum or an enlarged turbinate which causes difficulty breathing. In some cases an insurance company will provide coverage for this portion of the procedure called a septoplasty, but it would require a pre-authorization from your insurance company.
