DESCRIPTION

Botox Cosmetic is a non-surgical treatment that can temporarily reduce wrinkles caused by muscle contraction. This causes horizontal lines across the forehead, crow’s feet, and “worry lines” between the eyebrows. Dr. Vinyard injects Botox Cosmetic into the muscles that cause the appearance of these wrinkles to create muscle relaxation. You will enjoy a more youthful, rested, and softened appearance with the injection of Botox Cosmetic. Botox is an ideal treatment for the upper region of the face including around the eyes (crows feet), in between the eye brows and horizontal lines of the forehead. Muscles of the upper part of the face pull on the overlying skin and create wrinkles while moving. Over time these wrinkles become “etched” into the skin and wrinkles can be perceived even while at rest. The solution to this is regular Botox treatments. Since Botox treatments are not permanent, you should continue to treat the areas of concern every 3-4 months. This will help you to maintain that overall smoothed appearance to the areas. As you continue to do this, the muscles will atrophy (get smaller) and may even require less Botox or less frequent treatments to maintain the result.

FAQs

How does Botox work?

Wrinkles in the upper part of the face occur because there is very little fat between the skin and the muscles. The muscles are more tightly attached to the skin and create a wrinkle when the muscle moves. Botox relaxes the muscles underneath the skin and therefore they cannot pull on the skin to create a wrinkle. This causes a smoothed appearance to Botox.

Where does Dr. Vinyard usually inject Botox?

Botox Cosmetic injections are FDA approved for the wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabella region). However, Botox Cosmetic is commonly injected into other areas in the upper part of the face. These areas include the crow's feet, glabella (area in between the eyebrows), and the horizontal lined across the forehead.

Will my face look "frozen" after I am treated with Botox?

No. Dr. Vinyard can achieve the more refreshed and relaxed appearance to your wrinkles without making you appear "frozen". His approach to treating with Botox is to try and create a more natural and smooth appearance. This appearance is achieved by preventing the muscles of the forehead, glabella and/or crow's feet regions from moving. You will still be able to create expressions with the use of the muscle surrounding the eye.

How long does Botox last?

Botox treatments usually last for 3-4 months on average. Muscle function returns at this point and you will start to notice your "active" wrinkles returning.

Can Botox be combined with any other treatments?

To maximize your results for facial rejuvenation utilizing a non-surgical approach, you may also benefit from injection of a filler/ Juvederm XC. This is most commonly used to address wrinkles that occur in the the lower part of the face such as the nasolabial folds (wrinkles from the nose to the corner of the mouth), labiomental folds (wrinkles from the corners of the mouth to the chin), and around the mouth. The "Liquid Facelift" is a non-surgical way of achieving a modest amount of facial rejuvenation with the use of both Botox Cosmetic and Injectable Fillers. Another factor to remember is the overall health and appearance of the skin itself. At the Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery, we carry only physician dispensed skin care lines that require a prescription.

Do you offer special pricing for packages of Botox?

Yes. Once you have had a consultation with Dr. Vinyard, he will recommend the amount of Botox required to treat your areas of concern. While you are here we will provide a quote for you to maintain your Botox treatments for a year. In addition, you may desire to combine Botox with Juvederm XC. In that case we will provide a quote while you are here for the combination of the injectable treatments. You will benefit from the cost savings of these packages.
